In 1959, Daryl Dandridge first visited Bechuanaland as it was called in the years whilst it was a British protectorate. He returned in 1960 in transit, looking for work as a game warden and met Bobby Wilmot in Francistown. Bobby gave Daryl employment which included transport driving, working in the work shop and crocodile hunting for their hides. Daryl then found employment with the British government, firstly with the Vetinary Department, then with the Bechuanaland Game Control which is now the Botswana Wildlife Department. This work consisted of controlling problem animals in rural settlements. In the mid 1960’s the likes of Harry Selby moved from Kenya to Botswana and started guided hunting safaris in Botswana. With Daryl’s huge experience in hunting dangerous game it did not take long before Harry approached him and so started his long career in professional hunting, first with Ker Downey & Selby, then in 1982 Safari South, then in 1983, Hunters Africa. Daryl has a great interest in the magical wonders of Botswana's fauna and flora developing a renowned knowledge thereof. Daryl is now semi retired but one can’t keep him out of the bush for long and he is still actively guiding photographic safaris.

Daryl’s younger brother Colin left South Africa and joined him in Botswana and soon became involved in the tourism industry. Firstly, as a professional hunter, then later starting his own company, Kitso Safaris, which specialized in mobile photographic camping safari’s. This was a new concept at the time and grew rapidly as he was a pioneering member of the industry. Daryl’s son’s Chris and Adrian were born in Botswana and grew up in the bush developing a keen interest in the natural world. After completing university in England Chris helped Colin with his mobile safaris before establishing Dandridge Safaris in 1996, which is aimed at uniting the many talents and great experience of the entire family.

In 2012 Chris married Marié who plays an integral role in the company as well as looking after Blake.
